| Location |
700 1st St. NW (downtown, west
of Broadway and just south of Lomas). See Location
for directions and map. Plenty of free parking
on-site. |
| Description |
Historic building (opened in 1912 as a
produce cold storage facility) adjacent to
the Wool Warehouse. Enter the hand-carved
front door and be transported to a magical
world of comfort and delight. Come early to
enjoy refreshments and our art gallery, or
just lounge on our sofas and chat.
When the house opens, climb a few steps to
our flexible "black box" performance
space. You'll find our open, flexible seating
comfortable and the intimacy with the performing
area exciting. Separate men's and women's
facilities are easily accessible and very
appealing.
The Cell can be arranged
in a myriad configurations, depending on the
needs of the performers; you never know what
you'll find when you step into the space!
We use the finest lighting and audio equipment
to enhance your experience here. The building
is fully equipped with a professional scene
shop and, as befits an Equity theatre, the
best dressing and warm-up space in town.
Patrons and performers alike love The
Cell; come see why.
|
| Accessible |
Fully accessible to patrons with special mobility
needs, including a wheelchair ramp bypassing
the stairs. |
| Offerings |
Theatre may be one of the most important
activities at The Cell, but
many other great things take place here as
well. To whit, a partial list:
- SAG
Talks: approximately
once per quarter, the Screen Actors Guild
hosts special, invititation-only discussions
with some of the luminaries of the film
industry. Recent guests have included Cate
Blanchett, Christopher Walken and Sir Ben
Kingsley. While normally only open to SAG
union members, by special arrangement, The
Cell has been permitted to invite
guests—first come, first served—from
FUSION Theatre Company's mailing
list.
- "One
Night Stand" (variety cabaret):
from time to time, local and visiting performers
star in a fun, informal, and inexpensive
melange of theatre, music, dance, poetry,
and other unusual offerings. Be sure to
include your name on our mailing list for
notices. Next date: Friday, January
5, 2007 at 8PM. Call us at 505.766.9412
for details, or visit The
Cell
web site.
- Concerts:
The Cell is home to a regular
series featuring regional and visiting rock,
blues, and jazz musicians. Call us at 505.766.9412
for the schedule, or visit The
Cell
web site.
